Your steps, in order

Step 1
Get a written invitation
Ask the Luxembourg host company for an invitation letter stating the purpose, dates and who covers costs.
Step 2
Apply for the Schengen business visa (type C)
Apply at the visa centre in India up to 6 months before travel, with insurance, bookings and financial proof.
Step 3
Respect the 90/180 rule
A type C visa allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area — track your days.
Step 4
If you plan to stay: the self-employed route
Staying longer means an authorisation to stay as a self-employed worker, with a business plan, qualifications and proof of means.
Step 5
Register the company activity
A business licence (autorisation d'établissement), company registration and VAT number are needed before invoicing.
